Pornographers love giving each other awards, and awards season has begun. XBiz announced the nominations for its 2013 awards this week. Since parodies are such big business these days, they get their own categories.

Back in February 2011, pornstar Dana DeArmond tweeted that there was a “Community XXX parody in the works”. Community showrunner Dan Harmon gave the project his blessing by retweeting.

In December 2011, a Community fan blogging about “Harmontown” (I’m not quite sure what that is) wrote, “Dana DeArmond was really funny and talked about filming the Community porn parody that hasn’t seen the light of day because apparently it was awful.”

Another enthusiastic fan offered suggestions for the apparently doomed project.

And in a new interview with The Onion AV Club, Community star Alison Brie mourned the lost porno.

AVC: Alison, you mentioned on the Nerdist TV special that there’s a Community porn parody.

AB: Well yes, I’ve recently heard an update about this, and I’m bummed. Here’s what it is: They shot a Community porn movie, but it’s never going to be seen, because they’re not going to distribute it, because not enough people know what the show is. Dan Harmon interviewed the girl who played Britta in the porn version of the show, and she was like, “Oh yeah, none of us knew what the show was, we still don’t know. We were just there to do our job.” I think we were all really crestfallen, like, “What? You didn’t research the show?”

AVC: They’re not real fans?

AB: I was more disappointed that no one will ever see it.

AVC: Those are not dedicated porn stars.

AB: They’re even benching our porn.

AVC: You may not have as many viewers as some of the other shows that are parodied, but maybe your fans masturbate 10 times as much.

AB: It’s true; I bet we have some good masturbators in our group.

LC: Career masturbators.

AB: I’ll just have to rally some troops and shoot my own. Lizzy’s going to star in it with me.

LC: Alison’s totally going to make a porno.

AB: I’m going to make Community porn. Lizzy Caplan’s going to play Annie, and I’m going to produce it. I’m not going to be in it.

Sad, very sad.

That didn’t take long. Hustler is working on The General Goes All In, a ripped-from-the-headlines porn parody of the sex scandal involving General-turned-CIA-chief David Petraeus and biographer Paula Broadwell. The studio promises “a version of events that leaves nothing to the imagination.”

Evan Stone plays General David Petraeus, while Kimberly Kane will play Paula Broadwell. Directed by Stuart Canterbury.

The porn parody title is a play on Broadwell’s biography All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.

The main scene should be available at Hustler.com in December, with a full DVD following in early 2013.

Universal Studios and Fifty Shades Ltd. have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Smash Pictures over the XXX adaptation/parody of Fifty Shades of Grey. The crux of the complaint:

By lifting exact dialogue, characters, events, story and style from the Fifty Shades trilogy, Smash Pictures ensured that the First XXX Adaptation was, in fact, as close as possible to the original works. Beginning with the First XXX Adaptation’s opening scene and continuing throughout the next 2½ hours of the film, Smash Pictures copies without reservation from the unique expressive elements of the Fifty Shades trilogy, progressing through the events of Fifty Shades of Grey and into the second book, Fifty Shades Darker. The First XXX Adaptation is not a parody, and it does not comment on, criticize or ridicule the originals. It is a rip-off, plain and simple.

Point 34 of the complaint has several pages of side-by-side comparisons of dialogue from the novel and the movie. Pity the poor paralegal who had to compile that chart.

The lawsuit also quotes Smash honchos telling LA Weekly and XBiz that their porn flick will be an “adaptation”, “very true to the book”, “faithful to the core material”, etc. There are strong legal precedents protecting the right to create porn parodies, but the plaintiffs argue that there’s no parody element to Fifty Shades of Grey XXX, just straight-up adaptation.

The plaintiffs have a point.

AVN has announced the nominees for the 2013 AVN Awards. Porn parody gets its own categories, and each category has a buttload of nominees.

Director Will Ryder and his studio X-Play have two new porn parody projects in the pipeline.

Already in the post-production stage is Not South Park XXX. XBiz reports, “While Ryder remains tight-lipped about the parody’s plot, he does reveal that porn star Katie Summers has been cast in the spoof and that the story revolves around Kyle’s 18th birthday.”

And X-Play just began production on The Anal Adventures of Honey Poo Poo XXX, which Ryder promises will “tear into America’s favorite redneck family with piss-poor one liners, a bad diet and enough anal sex to last a lifetime.” Not surprisingly, the plot of this one revolves around Honey’s 18th birthday.

Burning Angel is working on a porn parody of The Walking Dead. Huzzah! They’ve posted a handful of teaser pics via Twitter, Tumblr, etc, which we’ve collected here.

If they follow past practice, the Walking Dead porn parody will show up on the Burning Angel website first, then get a DVD release several months later.

The X-Rated Critics Organization held its 30th annual XRCO Awards on Wednesday. Julia Ann and Bonnie Rotten co-hosted, and many old-timers like Kay Parker, Amber Lynn, Ginger Lynn and Tony Montana (not the Scarface character, but the pornstar who took his screen name from the character) showed up.

The AVN and XBix Awards have each split their “Best Parody” awards into two categories in recent years, best “drama” parody and best “comedy” parody. XRCO took this idea a step further this year, with three parody categories. And the winners are:

Can someone explain the distinction between a “comic” porn parody and a “comedy” porn parody? I didn’t think so.

Comedy troupe Nacho Punch has produced a “porno by Wes Anderson” parody entitled The Grand Sausage Pizza. It’s completely safe for work and safe for YouTube, no nudity, but very funny.

If only a real pornparodographer like Axel Braun or Lee Roy Myers would make one of these with real porn. Maybe the target audience is too limited, who knows. Maybe a three-minute PG-13 film is all the Wes Anderson porn parody the world needs.

In a long overdue overhaul of our Coming Soon page over the weekend, we deleted a bunch of old listings. These were mostly porn parody projects which had been announced or rumored but never actually released. We’re not sure how many of these were real in-development projects. In some cases, we suspect that studios were simply calling “dibs” on various parody targets to deter rival studios.

For the sake of preserving data for future porn historians, we present this master list of Porn Parodies That Never Got Made.

In 2010, Adam & Eve announced upcoming XXX parodies based on Nitro Circus, Chips and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, to be directed by David Lord. Though Lord has made several parodies for Adam & Eve and other studios since then, he never got around to these three titles.

From 2008 to 2011, Hustler churned out a series of Sarah Palin porn parodies — Who’s Nailin’ Paylin?, Obama’s Nailin’ Palin, Letterman’s Nailin’ Palin, etc. Meanwhile, when Tiger Woods’ marital problems hit tabloid headlines in late 2009, several porn studios rushed out Tiger Woods xxxploitation titles. During this craze, Hustler announced the mindblowing crossover project Tiger’s Nailin’ Palin. Sadly, they never hooked up.

In spring 2010, New Sensations announced upcoming porn parodies based on The A-Team, Harry Potter, 24, This is Spinal Tap, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lost, all to be directed by in-house parody guru Lee Roy Myers. However, Myers left New Sensations later that year without having made any of these titles. Myers later directed Buffy the Vampire Slayer: A XXX Parody for Adam & Eve. Other studios/directors eventually covered The A-Team, Harry Potter and 24. To date, Spinal Tap and Lost remain untapped by porn parodists.

In October 2010, Axel Braun announced an upcoming slate of porn parodies for Vivid, including Elvis XXX, The Godfather XXX, The Beatles XXX, The Rat Pack XXX, Star Wars XXX, plus parodies based on Law & Order, Starsky & Hutch, The Addams Family, Grease and Clockwork Orange. Braun did make Elvis XXX and Star Wars XXX for Vivid, some got made by other directors for other companies, the rest never materialized.

In December 2010, Adam & Eve announced a slate of parody films for 2011 based on Dallas, Porky’s, Knight Rider, Smokey and the Bandit, 9 ½ Weeks XXX, The Graduate and Goodfellas. Adam & Eve released Dallas XXX in 2012, then 9 ½ Weeks XXX in 2014. Another studio beat them to The Graduate XXX. The world still awaits Porky’s XXX, Knight Rider XXX, Smokey and the Bandit XXX and Goodfellas XXX.

In May 2011, right after the mission to kill Osama Bin Laden, Hustler announced plans to make This Ain’t Bin Laden XXX. Never happened.

Pleasure Dynasty planned an ambitious True Grit XXX to be directed by Jack the Zipper. The project had funding, a script, a cast and a poster. They planned to start shooting in fall 2011, but the project was abandoned due to budget overruns and failure to get location shooting permits.

Extreme Comixxx announced a casting call for Smallville XXX in May 2011. Superhero porn parodies remain popular, but this one never got made.

Vivid announced Bruce Lee XXX: A Porn Parody, starring Keni Styles in the title role and directed by Axel Braun, in February 2011. The title showed up on some industry release schedules later in 2011. A poster/box cover even appeared online. Then it all just vanished. Maybe Vivid kept it on the shelf, or maybe it was never completed.

Bluebird posted a trailer for Babe Runner (based on Blade Runner) in September 2011 for imminent DVD release date, but the film never appeared.

B. Skow planned Ferris Bueller’s Day Off XXX for Vivid in 2012, but he left Vivid before making this film.

Axel Braun was rumored to be working on Fantastic Four XXX for Vivid in 2011. Braun has made a bunch of superhero porn parodies since then, but hasn’t gotten around to the FF as yet. With the big Hollywood Fantastic Four reboot hitting theaters in summer 2015, we bet someone will give it a shot.

Sinister X Syndicate announced Rebel Without a Cause XXX with (naturally) James Deen playing the James Dean role. Never happened.

Sinister X Syndicate announced upcoming project Justice League 3DX in July 2012. XBiz reported, “Producer/director Rob Black said that he is staying true to the DC Comics reboot of The Green Lantern character as a gay superhero by having [gay pornstar Adam] Killian perform in one hardcore gay scene in the otherwise heterosexual porn movie.” Black (aka Sinister X) says, “Justice League 3DX is a straight movie. Evan Stone is Batman, Scott Lyons is Robin, Jennifer White is Wonder Woman and Lizzy Borden is Batwoman. It will have six boy/girl scenes and one full-on gay scene.” Never happened.

In early 2013 pornstar Kiara Mia planned to direct and star in a new Kardashians porn parody. Maybe it will still happen someday, but it’s been more than a year with no news.

In 2013 a new company called GrindHouse XXX Parody announced plans to make Machete XXX with Marco Banderas in the title role. Never happened.

Assence Films announced three porn parodies in the works in 2013-14. They said production had begun on Abercrombie & Bitch XXX in May 2013. They were allegedly in post-production on Fluke Me, “a raunchy political riff on the story of Sandra Fluke, the attorney-turned-politician who gained fame in 2012 when Rush Limbaugh called her a slut”, as of April 2014. And they announced Twins XXX for July 2014 release. We’re still waiting on all three.

So …

Some of these may get made someday, but none can honestly be labeled “coming soon” at this point.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 comes out this weekend, the third of four planned movies based on the dystopian young adult novel trilogy.

And for whatever reason, the porn industry has once again failed to tag along with a Hunger Games porn parody.

What the hell is wrong with these people?

The first two movies both topped $400 million in North American box office. The third movie will probably do the same.

Recent events suggest there’s a huge audience out there eager to see Katniss naked.

And the plot premise of the Hunger Games series just cries out for XXX reinterpretation. A bunch of cute, athletic teenagers from the sticks exploited by decadent, jaded big-city scumbags for scuzzy entertainment value — that sounds a lot like, well, the porn industry. Dump the violent fight-to-the-death angle, replace it with lots of sex, voila.

There have been a few Hunger Games-themed porno titles, but these have mostly been cheapo releases with no real parody content beyond the title puns and box covers:

We demand a proper Hunger Games porn parody with Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymitch, Effie, Rue, etc (all aged up to 18+, of course) and some attempt to mimic the visual look of the movies. There will be one more Hollywood movie in November 2015, plenty of time for Axel Braun or Lee Roy Myers or someone to step up.
